THE URBAN FOREST

See Montreal differently through our free outdoor activities! From May 21 to October 8, the 13th edition of the Museum’s Urban Forest provides a wellness oasis in the heart of downtown. With its street furniture, warm colours, green spaces and cultural programming, this ephemeral park invites you to relax, enjoy its activities and make the most of summer in the city.

MUSICAL WEDNESDAYS
Every Wednesday | July 5 to August 23 | 12:15 to 1 p.m.
The Urban Forest is coming alive every Wednesday this summer! Discover artists from different backgrounds who epitomize Montreal’s cultural diversity, including special programming for the exhibition Swallowing Mountains by artist Karen Tam.

ADAPTING YOUR LIFESTYLE TO ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
Every Thursday | June 15 to August 10 | 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Why should we coexist with pollinating insects in urban areas? Is it possible to keep up with fashion trends while being environmentally responsible? How can you clean your home with environmentally friendly and easy-to-make products?

Join the Société pour l’action, l’éducation et la sensibilisation environnementale de Montréal at its Urban Forest kiosk every Thursday on lunch time to learn how to make a green transition part of your lifestyle.

ECO-LUNCHES
Tuesday, July 18 and August 15 | 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
Take part in two eco-lunches to learn more about the environmental impact of your lifestyle during workshops presented by the Société pour l’action, l’éducation et la sensibilisation environnementale de Montréal.

HOW TO SPIN A YARN: FROM SHEEP TO WOOL SWEATER
Thursday, July 6 and August 24 | 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
Take advantage of your lunch break to join Lylliane Lequellec, Artisan Consultant at Fibershed Québec and learn all about an eco-friendly textile. She will demonstrate the steps involved in producing wool, from shearing the fleece, through to cleaning, carding and spinning.

OUTDOOR FASHION SHOWS
Thursday, July 20 and August 3 | 12:15 to 1 p.m.
This summer, fashion takes over the Museum’s Urban Forest! Fashion design graduates with a BA in fashion management and design from the École supérieure de mode at ESG UQÀM will present their collections at two outdoor fashion shows. Inspired by nature, visual arts and technology, their creations explore their experiences, identity, and concerns about current issues.

LOOKING AFTER OUR STORIES IN MONTREAL/TIOHTIÀ:KE
Every Sunday | May 21 to August 27 | 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
In this civic engagement workshop, you will lend an ear to the too often untold stories of Chinese, Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities.Looking at photographs of 19th and 20th century Montreal from the Museum’s Photography collection, you will reflect on the presence or absence of objects and people that support their wellbeing in Montreal.
