A solo act that combines contemporary dance, wushu and traditional Chinese dance to the beat of Chinese hip-hop. This choreographic exploration helps me to build a connection with the stories of the many Chinese immigrants who, like my grandfather, worked, for a little while or much longer, washing Quebecers’ clothes – a life of hard work in an openly racist setting. How can we feel the lives, the sacrifices, the dreams of these immigrants, when time washes away the memories and traces of their passage? What is left of them and how can it inhabit me?
